However, his creation turns out to be monstrous, rejecting his creator and seeking revenge for his abandonment. Mary Shelley was only 18 years old when she wrote Frankenstein. The novel is considered one of the first examples of science fiction literature, as it introduced many scientific concepts ahead of its time.

Dracula by Bram Stoker (1847)

Bram Stoker is widely regarded as the Father of modern horror fiction. He wrote the novel Dracula, which tells the story of a vampire who travels from Transylvania to England and preys on the blood of his victims. It has also inspired many writers to create their versions of vampires.

The Haunting of the Hill House by Shirley Jackson (1959)

Shirley Jackson was one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. She was also a master of gothic fiction, but she preferred to write about more realistic settings than European castles. She wrote many beautiful novels in this horror genre, such as The Lottery, We have always lived in the Castle, etc.

The Haunting of the Hill House is a story about the story of four seekers who arrive at The Hill House. At first, their stay seems quiet, but Hill House is gathering its powers, and soon, it will choose one of them to make its own. This book is a classic example of psychological horror, focusing on the psychological effects of being haunted rather than any external threat or monster.
