Eco-Friendly Holi: Make Your Colours At Home

Celebrate Holi with Vibrant, natural colours this year by making your own at home. Holi is a joyful festival celebrated with vibrant colours and sweets. But store-bought colours contain harmful chemicals that can damage your skin and the environment. With ingredients like turmeric, gram flour, lemon juice, henna, and indigo, you can easily create a range of beautiful colours that are gentle on your skin.

Ingredients:

To make organic Holi colours, you need these ingredients:

  1. Corn starch: It acts as the base for the colour powder and helps to keep it light and fluffy.
  2. Baking Soda: It helps to regulate the pH levels of the powder, making it safer for the skin.
  3. Natural food colourants: Depending on the colours you want to make. You will need natural food colourants like beetroot powder for red, turmeric powder for yellow, Hibiscus powder for pink, and carrot powder for orange.

Instructions:

Step 1: Mix the base ingredients

First, take a large mixing bowl, and take equal parts of corn starch and baking soda. Mix the ingredients until well combined. You can use a fork to do this.

Step 2: Divide the mixture into different bowls

Depending on the number of colours you want to make, divide the mixture into separate bowls. Like, if you want to make red, yellow, and green colour powder, you will need three bowls.

Step 3: Add the natural food colourants

In each bowl, add the desired amount of natural food colourant, a little at a time, and mix it well until the colour is distributed. You can use beetroot powder for red, turmeric powder for yellow, carrot powder for orange, and so on.
