1. Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Kerala

Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is one of the most mysterious temples in India. The temple has seven secret vaults out of which six of them have been opened recently, discovering huge amounts of gold and diamonds. The seventh vault which is called Vault B hasn’t been opened because the door is locked by Naga Bandham and there are two large snakes engraved on the iron door. The door can be opened only with the Garuda mantra by a very spiritual person. There are many stories about that vault, some say that vault B is the home of a large snake and the others say that there is huge wealth hidden inside the vault. Nobody knows what’s behind that door and it cannot be opened forcefully as well.

2. Mehandipur Balaji Temple, Rajasthan

In the district of Dausa, Mahendipur Balaji temple is a temple to get rid of ghosts, demons, and evil spirits. It is only the temple in India where priests practise exorcism. No prasad or anything is offered at this temple and it is said that once you come out of the temple you must not turn back to look at the temple. You shouldn’t touch anything inside the premises as well.

3. Jagannath Temple, Puri

The famous Jagannath temple has so many mysterious stories and incidents. The temple has no shadow from any angle at any time of day. The flag on the top of the temple always sways in the opposite direction of the wind. The Chakra on top of the temple weighs a ton and it can be seen from every corner of Puri City. It looks like the chakra is facing you no matter wherever you are standing. No birds fly over the Jagannath temple. The prasad cooked in the temple is prepared in seven earthen pots stacked on top of each other. But the topmost pot gets cooked first. The mystery of the Jagannath temple has baffled scientists across the world.

4. Kailasa Temple, Ellora Caves

Kailasa Temple is an architectural marvel, it is the largest rock-cut temple in Ellora caves. The structure of the Kailasa temple is built on a single rock with intricate carvings and rendering of Ramayana. Mughal King, Aurangazeb ordered his men to destroy the temple but they failed to do so after so many attempts. As per the archaeologists, there are 30 million Sanskrit verses written on the wall and they are yet to be decoded to understand the meaning. People are still wondering how this temple was built with so much detailing and craftsmanship at a time when there was no technology and mechanism.

5. Veerabhadra Temple, Lekapshi

Veerabhadra Temple in the Lepakshi district is one of the most famous and mysterious temples in India. The temple was built in the 16th century and the architecture depicts the Vijayanagara style. The temple has become famous because of the pillar dangling from the roof. Many tourists put a cloth under the pillar to test the gap between the pillar and the ground.

6. Nidhivan Temple, Uttar Pradesh

Nidhivan temple is in Vrindavan which has always intrigued Lord Krishna lovers. The temple is surrounded by beautiful trees and it is believed that Lord Krishna comes every evening to perform Raas Leela(Act of love) with gopikas. Every evening, the temple priests leave some offerings in the temple and the next morning they are scattered over the place.

7. Karni Mata Temple, Rajasthan

Karni Mata Temple has attracted thousands of tourists from across the globe to witness the unique culture of worshipping rats. Yes, approximately 20,000 rats are there in the temple. Devotees worship the rats and feed them. It is believed that the devotees of Karni Mata take the form of the rats and take shelter in the temple premises. One has to be careful while entering the temple and walk on tip-toes.

8.Panakala Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple, Guntur

Sri Panakala Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple is very popular in Andhra Pradesh. The idol of the Lord Narasimha is unique, there is only the face with the mouth wide open. The mysterious thing in this temple is when the priests offer jaggery water to the lord, a gurgling sound is audible to the devotees. Another interesting thing is that half the quantity of Jaggery water offered to God goes inside while the remaining spills out which is given to the devotees as prasadam. Not even a single ant or any other insect can be found in this temple.

9. Ananthapadmanabha Lake Temple, Kerala

Ananthapadmanabha Lake Temple in Kerala is an interesting and mysterious temple in India. The interesting thing about this temple is a crocodile guarding the temple. Usually, crocodiles are ferocious but in this temple, the crocodile only eats cooked rice and jaggery and mingles with the devotees quite easily. The priest and the crocodile share good chemistry. Once when the crocodile came out of the pond and entered the temple, the priest requested it to be returned to the pond. Then it took a U-turn and returned to its place.

10. Venkateshwara Temple, Tirupati

One of the richest temples in India is Venkateshwara Temple in Andhra Pradesh. Approximately 50,000 people visit this temple daily. It is believed that the deity lord Venkateshwara has original hair and as a symbol of sacrifice devotees shave off their heads. It is also believed that the deity sweats consistently even though the priests dry it up.
