Ajay Devgn to return as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 2

Drishyam, one of 2015’s biggest movies, was the Hindi remake of Mohanlal’s 2013 Malayalam film of the same name. Its sequel, Drishyam 2, was released on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video in 2021. Work on the Hindi remake of the same has begun. The news was confirmed by Ajay Devgn who shared an image on social media from the shoot with his co-star Shriya Saran and filmmaker Abhishek Pathak. Ajay captioned his post as “Can Vijay protect his family again? #Drishyam2 shoot begins.” [sic]

Drishyam won many hearts through its storyline and the performance of the actors. It was a huge hit at the box office and left the audience intrigued. Ajay Devgn has stated that he is delighted be a part of Drishyam 2 and is looking forward to the movie.

He further said, “I am now elated to present yet another interesting story with Drishyam 2. Vijay is a multidimensional character and he creates an engaging narrative onscreen.”

The movie is being directed by Abhishek Pathak, as Nishikant Kamat, the original director, passed away in 2020. Ajay Devgn is set to return as Vijay Salgaonkar along with Sriya Saran, Tabu and Ishita Dutta as part of the talent-packed cast.

Speaking about coming back to Drishyam 2 Ajay said, “Drishyam was loved. Vijay is a multidimensional character and he creates an engaging narrative onscreen. Abhishek Pathak has a fresh vision for this film. I am keenly looking forward to filling in the large shoes of the earlier film, with people investigating the mystery and the characters.”

Abhishek Pathak has also expressed his excitement on working on this project. “Making an official remake of a successful franchise film is an honour and a challenge.
