When Life Gives You Mangoes… Take It Easy

This Summer, just be and go with the flow…

Summer has a way of announcing itself: loud, relentless, and impossible to ignore. The heat can feel exhausting, the days longer than usual, and everything seems to slow down just a little more than we’d like. And yet, somewhere in the middle of all that discomfort, there’s always something to look forward to. For me, it’s mangoes! That first bite instantly brings a sense of nostalgia and comfort, making the season feel a little more forgiving. It’s no surprise that this issue celebrates that joy with Mango Mania: a collection of recipes by chefs who’ve turned this beloved fruit into something truly special.

Summer also means the house feels different. Kids are home, restless, curious, sometimes bored, and as adults, we feel this quiet pressure to make the most of that one-month break. We plan trips, sign them up for classes, try to teach them something new, and somewhere in between, attempt to hold on to little traditions like making pickles at home. It’s chaotic, a little overwhelming, but also deeply meaningful in ways we often realise only later.

Personally, I’ve come to feel that summer isn’t something you can fully organise or control. The more you try to fit everything in, the more it slips away. Maybe it’s meant to be lived in fragments: slow afternoons, spontaneous plans, shared meals, and moments that aren’t always perfect but feel real.

This issue is built around that idea. From conversations with voices shaping entertainment and culture, to easy summer fashion, wellness essentials, travel ideas, and food that feels both comforting and seasonal, it’s all designed to flow with your pace, not against it. Whether you’re flipping through for inspiration or simply taking a quiet break from the day, we hope it finds a place in your summer.

So this year, instead of fighting the heat or trying to do it all, maybe we just let go a little. Take the days as they come, enjoy the small joys, and trust that not everything needs a plan.
