Ruchika Kashelani on the Viral Dance Moves & Sangeet Trends Defining 2025

Gone are the days when a sangeet was just about a few family dances and a DJ night. In 2025, weddings are embracing cinematic choreography, viral content moments, and deeply personal performances that reflect the couple’s story. From surprise dhol entrances to projection-mapped backdrops, sangeet nights are transforming into grand entertainment productions that blend emotion, tradition, and high-energy creativity.

We sat down with Ruchika Kashelani, a leading wedding choreographer, to explore the hottest sangeet trends, content-driven performances, and the personal touches that are making waves this wedding season.

What’s the hottest sangeet trend at weddings this year?
This year, sangeets are moving from simple dance evenings to full-blown entertainment productions. Couples are looking forward to performances that feel deeply personal reflecting their journey, family bonds, and unique style. Grand couple entries, storyline-based medleys, live music fusion, and props built into the choreography are all in demand.

Recently, I choreographed a “Crash the Baarat with Dhol” moment where, in the middle of the planned DJ BAARAT, family members unexpectedly jumped in with a surprise live dhol players entered, the beats took over, the crowd went wild, and the video went viral. These spontaneous yet planned elements are what’s trending right now making each event not just entertaining, but unforgettable.

Reels, drone shots, and live edits how is content creation shaping sangeet performances now?
Couples today are creating dedicated Instagram pages for their weddings, while live content creation teams capture, edit, and post moments instantly making even distant family feel part of the celebration. We now design specific steps, formations, and transitions with the camera in mind so that drone shots, slow-motion captures, and perfect Reel-worthy moments are built into the performance often becoming viral highlights. I also intentionally create “content choreographies” fun dance transitions that showcase the couple in each of their wedding outfits so they have beautiful memories and highly shareable videos.

Most requested looks for bride and groom performances any standout trends in footwear, accessories, or coordinated outfits?
Comfort with style is the most significant trend of the moment. Brides are opting for embellished sneakers or block heels so they can dance without worry, while grooms are adding statement elements like embroidered stoles, quirky jackets, or colour-pop shoes. Coordinated couple outfits are still in demand, but with personal touches like matching embroidery, initials, or a shared motif that make the look unique to them and their story.

What are some of the most creative or unexpected sangeet themes you’ve choreographed recently?
Recently, I choreographed a performance that went viral across India and abroad, getting millions of views and recreations. Every time, families get emotional when the bride leaves her home, but nobody really thinks about the fact that the groom is also stepping into a new life and sharing it with someone. That thought inspired me to create a moment where the groom’s family dedicated a heartfelt, emotional performance just for him they sat together on the floor and sang and danced to Munna Bada Pyaara. It was unexpected, deeply personal, and incredibly touching.

How are you utilizing technology such as projection mapping or light choreography to enhance the experience?
Nowadays, couples are leaning towards plain backdrops because they give a cleaner, more sophisticated look to performances. I often use LED projection mapping on these backdrops, as it allows us to adapt the visuals to match the song’s theme whether it’s a palace setting, a starry night, or something unique to the couple’s story. Tech is also being used creatively during the couple’s entrances, from projection-based reveals to writing names in the sky. These innovations give sangeet performances a fresh design language more dynamic, immersive, and unforgettable.

Are there any trending accessories or costume elements you recommend for bridal performances?
Customization is massive right now. Brides are wearing hairpins with their husband’s name, and many are customizing bangles and other jewellery with names or dates. I recently worked with a groom on a sweet surprise for his bride mid-performance, he opened his blazer to reveal the back of his shirt, printed with her photo. It was hidden until that big reveal, and her reaction was priceless. These personal touches make performances unique, emotional, and memorable.

Common mistakes people make and your suggestions to fix them?
One of the biggest mistakes is overcomplicating choreography guests and family members should feel confident and have fun, not stressed about remembering too many steps. Another is not planning for content capture; it’s essential to brief photographers and videographers about key moments so nothing is missed. Finally, skipping rehearsals or leaving them to the last minute can affect coordination and energy short but consistent practice sessions make a huge difference in how polished and vibrant the performance feels.

Sankranti is more than just a festival it’s a feeling rooted in memories, traditions, and togetherness. For celebrities juggling packed schedules, the festival offers a rare pause to reconnect with family, roots, and simpler joys. From festive food and kite flying to early-morning rituals and childhood nostalgia, actors Sundeep Kishan, Eesha Rebba, Rahul Sipligunj, and others open up about how they celebrate Sankranti and what makes it one of the most cherished times of the year. Sundeep Kishan: Among all the festivals we celebrate, Sankranti has always been my absolute favourite. It’s that one time of the year when life truly slows down, and everyone comes together like one big family. The festive mornings, flying kites with friends, spending time with loved ones, and reliving childhood memories, it’s pure joy. And Sankranti is never complete without food: hot garelu, ariselu, traditional sweets, and home-cooked delicacies made with so much love. While cockfighting is a big part of the festival in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, that’s something I’ve only witnessed once. Eesha Rebba: Sankranti feels like a beautiful reset for me every single year. No matter how busy life gets, this festival gently reminds me to pause and reconnect with my roots. From cooking together at home and bonding over delicious festive meals to flying kites with my niece and sharing unhurried, happy conversations with family these simple moments are what genuinely make Sankranti special for me. It’s a time filled with warmth, laughter, and togetherness. And of course, Sankranti also comes with its own little indulgence I happily treat it as a cheat day where I eat as much pulihora as I want, because that’s one dish I can never resist. My mom makes the best ariselu and bobbatlu; my mouth waters just thinking about them. Rahul Sipligunj: This

Get ready to see who’s set to dominate, dazzle, and define Indian cinema this year. Ranbir Kapoor Ranbir Kapoor is one of 2026’s most talked-about stars thanks to his slate of colossal projects. His marquee film Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is slated for a March 20, 2026, theatrical release and is expected to be one of the year’s most significant cinematic events. This epic drama reportedly explores a “love triangle set against war” with large-scale production values and Bhansali’s signature blend of romance, conflict, and music. Latest industry developments suggest Ranbir adjusted his shooting schedule, prioritising Love & War over his other big project, the multi-part Ramayana, due to production delays on that film. This strategic move has energized fan debates about his 2026 focus. Janhvi Kapoor Janhvi Kapoor is set to be one of Indian cinema’s most discussed stars in 2026, thanks to her strategically diverse slate of films across languages and genres, combining pan-Indian commercial vehicles with evolving audience perceptions and industry buzz. Her major 2026 release is Peddi, a Telugu-language sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi in a central ensemble alongside Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu. The film, with music by A.R. Rahman, is scheduled for 27 March 2026, and marks a significant step in her South Indian career by positioning her alongside one of Tollywood’s biggest stars. Janhvi will also reprise her role in Devara Part II, the anticipated continuation of the Jr NTR-led franchise she debuted in, with shooting expected to begin early 2026 and release later that year, further

1. F1: The Movie From the outset, this film revs up not just its engines but our expectations. Starring Brad Pitt as a once-great driver drawn back into Formula One, the film immerses you in the roar of machines and the human heart behind the wheel. Yet beneath the chrome and speed lies a familiar story of comeback and redemption.
