Fur-Ever Connected: Celebrating the Purest Relationship of All

Fur-Ever Connected: Celebrating the Purest Relationship of All

February celebrates relationships in all their forms, and some of the most meaningful ones don’t involve humans at all. The bond between pets and their owners is pure, instinctive, and healing in ways we often don’t put into words. This month, we spotlight the stories where wagging tails and soft purrs have shaped lives and brought everyday joy.

Meet Pooja Oscar Sharma: Where Fitness, Compassion, and Dogs Collide

Pooja Oscar Sharma, health and fitness coach and MTV Roadies alumna, never imagined that dogs would become such a defining part of her life. Enter Oscar, her grumpy yet loving golden retriever, and Karma, the mischievous younger sibling. Together, they transformed from companions into family, and inspired the creation of Oscar & Karma, an awareness-first platform dedicated to adoption, ethical care, and responsible pet ownership in India.

How would you describe the bond you share with your pets, and what joys and challenges come with being their caregiver?
Oscar & Karma began as a space to share what I was learning about my dogs. Over time, it became an awareness platform connecting people to the personalities, quirks, and sibling bond of Oscar and Karma. The joys are endless, the unconditional love, the little moments, and the growth we experience together. The challenges are real, too, especially in India, where understanding a dog’s needs, emotions, and welfare is limited. Compassion often comes last.

How did this journey evolve beyond your pets to a larger community?
As I learned more, I realized the harsh realities of breeding, neglect, and cruelty in India. Oscar & Karma now stands for fostering, helping dogs in need, supporting community animals, and promoting environmental responsibility. Every initiative is inspired by Oscar and the desire to make a difference in the world they, and we, live in.

What does running Oscar & Karma mean to you personally?
It’s a daily reminder to lead with empathy. The platform has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of sharing knowledge responsibly. Most importantly, it has shown me that love for animals can grow into a force that educates, inspires, and unites an entire community.

Meet Sanjana Basnet & Chonkie: A Cozy Companion in Everyday Life

Sanjana Basnet, 22, is a Delhi-based social media manager whose days revolve around content strategy, creativity, and crafting visual stories. She finds magic in the small moments, blending simplicity and warmth in everything she does. Sharing her home is Chonkie, a three-year-old Persian cat whose quiet charm and subtle affection make every day feel special. Playful yet calm, Chonkie brings both energy and comfort, creating a balance that perfectly complements Sanjana’s busy life.

How would you describe your bond with Chonkie, and what joys and challenges come with caring for him?
Our bond is quiet but deeply comforting. Chonkie isn’t clingy; his love is subtle, showing up in shared spaces, playful bursts, or simply lounging nearby. The joy is in watching his personality shine, from sudden zoomies to calm moments of presence. The challenge is keeping him mentally engaged, especially on busy workdays, and balancing travel or work commitments with his care. This rhythm has made our connection even more rewarding, turning small gestures into meaningful moments.

Meet Plowy & Her Paw Parents: Manisha & Hitesh

Manisha & Hitesh are the loving duo behind Plowy, a cat who’s more than just a pet; she’s family. Manisha, a dedicated corporate lawyer, balances her high-pressure career while showering Plowy with care, and Hitesh, a creative digital marketer, brings his innovative spirit to their shared adventures. Together, they create a nurturing, playful environment where Plowy thrives.

How would you describe your bond with Plowy, and what joys and challenges come with being her caregivers?
Plowy is our travel buddy, companion, and constant source of joy. Her playful antics, soothing purrs, and curiosity make every day special. The challenges include keeping her safe in new environments, managing her long fur, and ensuring she feels secure and loved. Yet every cuddle, every adventure, and every little moment of happiness she brings makes every effort completely worthwhile.

You can add ice cubes or offer pet-safe hydrating treats. 2. Avoid Peak Heat Walks: Walk your pets early in the morning or late in the evening to prevent heat exhaustion. 3. Create a Cool Resting Space: Keep pets indoors during the day with fans, AC, or shaded areas. 5. Offer Cooling Foods: Give safe fruits like watermelon or vet-approved cooling treats in moderation. 6. How to Keep Your Pet Safe This Diwali

Diwali is a festival of lights, joy, and togetherness but while we celebrate with crackers and festivities, our furry friends often experience stress, fear, and anxiety. Loud noises, bright flashes, and sudden bursts of sound can be overwhelming for pets, making it essential to plan and keep them safe. Here are some vet-approved tips and pet parent experiences to ensure your dogs and cats enjoy a stress-free Diwali. 5 Essential Diwali Safety Tips for Pets 1. Create a Safe Space Set up a cozy, quiet room with curtains drawn and familiar items like their bed, toys, and a water bowl. Playing soft, calming music or white noise can help mask the sound of crackers. 2. Use Distraction Techniques Engage your pets with games, new chew toys, or treat puzzles to keep them entertained. Keeping them occupied is a great way to reduce their attention to outside noises. 3. Desensitize Them to Noises Well before Diwali, play recordings of crackers at a low volume while rewarding them with treats. Gradually increase the sound over time to help them build tolerance. 4. Avoid Dressing Them Up Unnecessarily While festive outfits may look cute, some fabrics can cause discomfort or restrict movement in pets. Opt for breathable, lightweight, pet-safe accessories instead. 5. Consult Your Vet if Needed For pets with extreme anxiety, consult your veterinarian. They may suggest calming sprays, supplements, or other safe solutions.
