The Bar Collective: Redefining India's Modern Home Bar Culture

From 14 Brands to 60: The Bar Collective’s Rise in India’s Home-Bar Space/It’s Not What You Drink, It’s How: The Bar Collective’s Home Bar Philosophy. Founded in Mumbai by Tejal and Binoy Dharia in October 2022, The Bar Collective is India’s first platform for globally curated glassware, barware and home-bar accessories, now home to over 60 international brands. The founders believe a drink is as much about ritual as taste, and here, they break down what every modern man’s bar should have.

What inspired you to start The Bar Collective?
It began with a simple conversation between us during the pandemic. What started as a passion project soon became an opportunity to bring something distinctive to the Indian market. We saw a gap for a dedicated platform where people could discover some of the world’s finest glassware, barware and home-bar accessories, all thoughtfully curated in one place.

Why focus on ritual, not just product?
For us, the idea was never just about selling products. We believe that enjoying a drink is as much about the ritual as it is about the drink itself, choosing the right glass, opening a bottle, preparing a cocktail or sharing a pour with friends. The right glassware and tools can change how we experience these moments, making them more intentional, personal and enjoyable.

What was the vision behind the platform?
We wanted to build a platform that introduced Indian consumers to global brands known for craftsmanship, material quality and design, while helping them understand the difference these details make. We wanted to move beyond a transactional approach to barware and encourage people to invest in pieces they’d enjoy using for years. What began with 14 brands has grown to over 60, which has reinforced our belief that there’s a genuine, growing audience in India that values quality and thoughtful design.

What makes The Bar Collective unique in the premium barware space?
We bring together a specialised category that’s often spread across different retailers and platforms. Our collection spans glassware for wine, whisky and cocktails, decanters, cocktail shakers, wine openers, preservation systems, bar tools and wine-storage solutions, all in one destination. Our selection includes internationally recognised brands such as Riedel, Zalto, and EuroCave, each serving a distinct purpose rather than duplicating what already exists. We’re selective about what we bring in, and we also offer home-bar and gifting consultations.

How is home entertaining evolving among Indian men?
It is increasingly becoming an extension of personal style. Hosting is no longer limited to serving food and drinks; it’s also about creating an atmosphere where people feel comfortable, conversations flow naturally, and the smallest details feel considered. We’re seeing greater interest in how drinks are served, the glassware used, and how a home bar fits into the overall interiors, rather than staying tucked away for special occasions.

What are your styling tips for creating the perfect home bar?
Start with the space you have. A home bar doesn’t need to be large or elaborate, just a well-organised surface, a selection of glasses you regularly use, a few essential tools and a bottle or two you enjoy. Introduce different heights and textures through a decanter, an ice bucket or a sculptural accessory to create visual interest. Most importantly, make it personal: display what you genuinely enjoy using, keep the arrangement uncluttered, and ensure everything’s within easy reach. The best home bar is one that reflects its owner and makes hosting feel effortless.

Quick Takes:

What are three essential barware items every modern man should own?
We’d start with three essentials that balance everyday functionality with the pleasure of a well-made object.

  1. A good set of drink-specific glasses — Choose glassware suited to the drinks you enjoy most: whisky, wine or cocktails. The right glass enhances the drinking experience and makes even an everyday pour feel more considered.
  2. A quality cocktail shaker — For anyone who enjoys making drinks at home, a well-designed shaker is a practical starting point, letting you experiment with classic cocktails without needing an elaborate setup.
  3. A reliable wine opener — Often overlooked, a good corkscrew makes opening a bottle effortless, and it’s one of those everyday objects where thoughtful design genuinely makes a difference.

The idea isn’t to own everything at once, but to invest in a few well-made essentials you’ll use regularly and enjoy for years.

What future trends do you foresee in premium barware and home bartending?

  1. Consumers are likely to become more selective about what they buy. They will look for pieces that offer lasting value and distinctive design.
  2. Barware will increasingly overlap with interiors. Glassware, decanters, wine coolers and bar accessories are becoming objects people want to display, allowing the home bar to function as both a practical space and a design feature.
  3. We expect home bartending to become more individualised, with a greater appreciation for the rituals of drinking, even when there is no hosting involved. Whether it is pouring a glass of wine after a long day or preparing a cocktail for oneself, people are finding value in making these everyday moments more intentional.
  4. Finally, personalisation and gifting will continue to be important. Engraved accessories, distinctive glassware and thoughtfully assembled collections offer a more personal alternative to conventional gifts.

Yuvraj & Yashraj Bhardwaj | Powering India’s Circular Economy

Twin brothers Yuvraj Bhardwaj and Yashraj Bhardwaj are the co-founders of Plannex Recycling, a Gurugram-based circular economy company transforming waste management through technology and innovation. Both entrepreneurs began innovating at the age of 14, filing patents and undertaking research projects long before launching their ventures. Today, while Yuvraj, Co-Founder & CEO, leads operations, technology, and execution, Yashraj drives strategy, policy, partnerships, and global expansion. Together, the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia honourees have built one of South Asia’s leading recycling platforms, processing over 500,000 metric tonnes of waste annually across 18 facilities in seven countries, proving that sustainability and scale can go hand in hand. 1. Tell us about your venture and how the idea first came to life. What made you decide to build it together as siblings? Yashraj: We’ve been building things together since we were 14, so becoming co-founders wasn’t really a decision; it was the natural next step. We saw India’s waste sector as a fragmented industry with enormous potential but very little technological intervention. While most people saw waste, we saw an opportunity to build infrastructure for the future. Yuvraj: Today, Plannex processes over 500,000 metric tonnes of waste annually across categories such as e-waste, PET plastics, batteries, tyres, and industrial waste, while creating employment for more than 2,000 people. Being twins gave us something every founder hopes to build: complete trust. We couldn’t imagine creating this business any other way. 2. How do your personalities and strengths complement each other? Yuvraj: Although we’re twins, we think very differently, and that’s our biggest advantage. I focus on operations, technology, and execution, making sure every facility runs efficiently and every process delivers on its promise. Yashraj: I spend more time on strategy, partnerships, policy, and investor relationships, helping Plannex expand globally. One of us imagines what’s

Pinq Polka: The Story of Manveen S Sharma & Mandeep Singh

Manveen S Sharma, CEO of Pinq Polka, brings over nine years of leadership experience across the automotive, mobility, and business sectors, with expertise in business strategy, operations, and customer-centric innovation. Alongside her is her brother, Mandeep Singh, Co-Founder, an entrepreneur with extensive experience in business development, sales, operations, and scaling businesses within the automotive and electric mobility ecosystem. Together, the sibling duo has transformed a simple consumer insight into one of India’s emerging women-first intimate wear and shapewear brands, combining strategic leadership with a shared commitment to creating products that prioritise comfort, confidence, and functionality. 1. Tell us about your venture and how the idea came to life. What made you decide to build it together as siblings? Manveen: Pinq Polka was born out of a personal experience. I often found myself buying women’s personal care products from abroad, because I couldn’t find the same quality in India. During a conversation with my brother, we realised there was a genuine gap in the market. Before launching, we spent months researching, speaking to women, testing products, and gathering honest feedback. That process confirmed we were solving a real problem. Building the brand together happened naturally; we trusted each other’s strengths and shared the same vision of creating products that genuinely improve women’s everyday lives. 2. How do your personalities and strengths complement each other? Manveen: I stay closely connected to our customers, spending time understanding their needs and translating those insights into better products. Many of our innovations have come directly from conversations with women who use our products every day. Mandeep: I focus on business strategy, partnerships, and sustainable growth. While Manveen leads product innovation and customer experience, I ensure we build a business that’s scalable and future-ready. We may approach challenges differently, but we’re united by one principle: never
