Celebrity Stylist Palak Kaur on Men’s Fashion, Modern Style and Trends

Palak Kaur is a Celebrity and Wedding Stylist from Indore who began her career as a fashion designer before moving into celebrity styling. Over six years, she’s styled for shows like Bigg Boss, Rise & Fall, Roadies, Splitsvilla, and The 50, as well as red-carpet looks and weddings, with a particular focus on men’s styling through her brand, The Kaur Story. Here, she breaks down what every man’s wardrobe actually needs.

Three wardrobe must-haves, regardless of personal style?

  • The statement white shirt — effortless, timeless, undeniably refined.
  • The perfectly tailored trousers — because true luxury lies in the fit.
  • The power blazer — one piece, endless possibilities, instant sophistication.

What’s the biggest styling mistake men make?
Following trends without understanding what actually suits them. Great style comes down to the right balance of fit, personality and confidence. Ignoring fit is the biggest culprit; even the most expensive outfit falls flat without it.
Other common mistakes: playing it too safe with colour instead of experimenting with earthy tones and pastels, copying trends blindly instead of adapting them, overlooking small details like shoes and watches, prioritising brand names over quality and fit, and ignoring body proportions altogether.

How should a man dress across work, weekends and nights out without three separate wardrobes?
Work calls for polished, tailored trousers, crisp shirts, structured layers.
Casual weekends mean relaxed denim, basic tees and comfortable sneakers.
A night out is about elevating the same basics: a statement jacket, darker tones, a good watch or sleek footwear.
You don’t need three wardrobes, just an understanding of fit, layering and accessories.
My styling mantra: great style isn’t about changing your wardrobe for every occasion; it’s about changing how you style it.

How does a man know if something fits well, rather than just fits okay?
The difference lies in the details. Shoulders should align naturally with the seams. Sleeves and trousers should fall neatly without excess fabric. You should move freely without pulling or restriction. The silhouette should complement your frame, not overwhelm it. The fabric should drape cleanly without awkward creases, and buttons, collars and pockets should sit smoothly.

One styling rule to break, and one to never break?
Break the idea that you need to stick to safe colours and classic combinations; experiment with colour, prints, layering and accessories. Fashion should express who you are, not follow a set of rules. The one I’d never compromise on is fit. No matter how expensive or fashionable an outfit is, if it doesn’t fit well, it won’t do your look justice. Know when to experiment, and when to simply get the basics right.

How can a man build a versatile capsule wardrobe on a budget?
Invest in timeless essentials rather than chasing every seasonal trend; a crisp white shirt, well-fitted denim, tailored trousers, a classic blazer and versatile shoes can take you from casual to formal. Stick to neutral colours that mix and match easily, and focus on fit, quality and styling. You can create multiple looks just by switching shoes, layering smartly or adding the right accessories. A stylish wardrobe isn’t about owning more; it’s about making every piece count.

One overlooked detail that instantly elevates a man’s outfit?
A good watch can instantly elevate an outfit. But the most overlooked detail is fit and finishing. You can wear the most expensive outfit, but if the shoulders don’t sit right or the sleeves are the wrong length, the whole look falls flat. Even small details like a well-chosen belt, clean shoes or a neatly folded pocket square make a real difference. Men don’t need to over-accessorise to look stylish; it’s about choosing the right pieces and paying attention to the finer details. The best accessory you can wear is your confidence.

Best Beard Styles for Men That Never Go Out of Fashion

Trends come and go, but some styles never lose their charm. The same is true of men’s grooming. While hairstyles and fashion preferences continue to evolve, a well-maintained beard remains one of the most effective ways to express personality, enhance facial features, and elevate everyday style. Whether you prefer a clean, professional appearance or a rugged, masculine look, the right beard can make a remarkable difference. Some men love the effortless appeal of light stubble, while others prefer the confidence of a classic full beard. The secret isn’t following every new trend, it’s finding a beard style that complements your face shape, suits your lifestyle, and feels authentically you. If you are looking for inspiration before your next barbershop visit, Dhanush Kumar writes about the beard styles that never go out of fashion. The Classic Stubble Beard: Effortless and Masculine Few grooming choices are as universally appealing as classic stubble. Simple, understated, and easy to maintain, this beard style offers just enough definition without the commitment of growing a longer beard. Stubble works particularly well for men who want a slightly rugged appearance while keeping their overall look neat. Depending on your natural hair growth, you can choose light stubble for a subtle finish or heavier stubble for a more pronounced, masculine effect. Best for: Men who prefer low-maintenance grooming, a smart-casual appearance, and a beard that looks natural rather than overly styled. The Short Boxed Beard: Clean, Sharp, and Sophisticated If there’s one beard style that strikes a balance between professional and fashionable, it’s the short boxed beard. Carefully shaped and neatly trimmed, it provides the fullness of a beard without appearing bulky or unkempt. This style keeps the beard relatively close to the face, with defined edges around the cheeks and jawline. The result is a structured appearance

The Biggest Groom Fashion Trends of 2026: Modern Indian Menswear

What are the key trends you see emerging for grooms in 2026? How is menswear evolving beyond the traditional sherwani? Menswear is becoming much more exciting. The sherwani will always have its place, but now there are shorter proportions, beautifully cut bandhgalas, layered tailoring, relaxed trousers and jackets that bring Indian craft into a more international silhouette. I also see grooms becoming more interested in texture and tone-on-tone embroidery rather than only very ornate surface work. For me, jewellery is becoming part of that evolution too: brooches and collar pins can completely transform a very clean, contemporary look. Are today’s grooms becoming more experimental with colour, silhouettes, layering and accessories? Completely! Men are far more involved in the process now. They are open to colour, embroidery, jewellery and interesting proportions. Even traditional ivory can become very modern through texture, layering or tone-on-tone craftsmanship. And I love seeing men enjoy fashion rather than treating their wedding outfit as something they simply have to wear. How important are details such as jewellery, footwear, brooches, layering and personalised embroidery in completing a groom’s look? They can completely change menswear. I particularly love brooches and collar pins from our jewellery collection because they let a groom add personality and preciousness without overwhelming the look. A beautifully crafted brooch on a bandhgala or a pair of collar pins can become the focal point. The important thing is editing. Every detail should feel intentional; you don’t need to wear everything at once. What are the three top absolute must-haves in a contemporary groom trousseau? A beautifully tailored bandhgala, an impeccably crafted kurta set that can be worn repeatedly, and one great ceremonial look- whether that is a sherwani or something more individual. And while technically that makes four, I would always add a great piece of

Bridal Fashion As Indian wedding fashion moves towards a more individual, contemporary expression, Manish Malhotra sees 2026 as a moment to embrace tradition without being bound by it. From reimagined drapes and evolving bridal silhouettes to more experimental menswear and jewellery, the designer shares his vision for a wedding wardrobe that feels personal, considered and distinctly modern. 1.Wedding fashion is constantly evolving. What do you think will define the Indian wedding aesthetic in 2026? I think 2026 is about individuality rather than one defining bridal look. Brides and grooms are much more confident about mixing tradition with their own sense of style. You’ll see beautiful Indian craft interpreted through cleaner silhouettes, interesting drapes, lighter constructions and very considered styling. There is still glamour, but it feels more personal and effortless. For me, that is where Indian wedding fashion is going: rooted in who we are, but completely of today. 2.You have continually reinvented the language of Indian occasion wear. What inspires you to keep pushing the boundaries? I’ve always enjoyed pushing myself
